VLADIMIR ASHKENAZY
Ashkenazy made his Moscow debut in 1945 at the age of eight, and in 1955 came
second in the Warsaw Chopin Competition. In 1962 he was joint first in the
International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow with the late John Ogdon.
He has a parallel career as a conductor and is currently Chief Conductor of the
Czech Philharmonic.
