Yehudi Menuhin was born in New York City in 1916. A child Prodigy he first appeared with the San Francisco Symphony when he was 7 years old, followed by appearances all over the world. He conducted as well as playing and was awarded an honorary knighthood in 1965 and made a life peer in 1993.
