Born in 1959 in Rochester, New York American soprano Renee
Fleming studied at the Eastman School of Music. She won a Fulbright
scholarship in 1984 enabling her to study with Elizabeth Schwarzkopf,
and then made her debut at Salzburg in 1986. .Her La Scala debut
was in Don Giovanni in 1993, and her first Grammy in 1999 for
The Beautiful Voice.
She also studied with the late Sir Georg Solti for three years,
and her opera roles range from Mozart and Rossini to Eva in Meistersinger,
and Lieder
