Rococo flourished from about 1700 to 1780 - the word Rococo coming from a french word meaning "little rock" The style focused on the delicate and the ornate, with a delicacy lacking in Baroque art. Light and playful Rococo art dealt with  worldly rather than religious subjects, and was sensual and aesthetic, lyrical and idyllic atmospheres
